A unique adaptive reuse project in Thousand Oaks, California — turning an old bank with a suburban street frontage into a high visibility retail space and shared office building. The clients needed a quick conceptual design and matching images to sell their renovation concept to potential restaurant renters. Knowing that the restaurant would need to grab the attention of passerby, both pedestrian and car traffic, the design pulls the restaurant out to the street with a patio that brings attention to the visible corner of the property. Further, the design maximizes the corner lot by incorporating a rounded bar top that rounds the corner underneath an eye-catching wood pergola. The pergola serves to distinguish the restaurant space from the office, while also providing shade and protection from the elements for the diners.
